Überbordende dominierende Frauen, überforderte phantasielose Polizisten und wirre Familienhintergründe sind immer wieder Grundelemente von Tom Sharpes Romanen und diese lesen sich – auch auf Grund seiner Sprache – immer wieder sehr amüsant. So auch dieses Mal, wobei Altfans hin und wieder das Gefühl haben werden, dass hier nicht wirklich etwas Neues geschieht. Für Menschen, die Sharpes Bücher noch nicht kennen – und auch nicht den Film „Puppenmord“ ist „The Gropes“ sicherlich ein guter Einstieg in sein Werk. Auch wenn das Ende der Erzählung ein wenig abrupt daher kommt.
